About Planting Weeks

Planting Weeks answers one question for home gardeners in the United States: when should this go in the ground? Good answers already exist, spread across dozens of university Extension pages, each written for its own state. Search results for the question are often forum threads that do not say where their dates came from.

We give each crop one page. On it, we summarize what several Extension services recommend: how many weeks before or after the last frost to plant, how warm the soil should be, and the dates they give for their state. Every line names who said it, links to their page, and shows when we last checked it.

Independence. Planting Weeks is not affiliated with the USDA, Oregon State University, or any university or Extension service; no such body has checked or backed these pages. Nothing is for sale here (no seeds, no plants, no ad slots), and we are paid for none of the links.

Limits. We do not know your frost date, and we have not grown these crops in trials of our own. Local weather each year matters more than any chart; your state’s Extension service has the final word.
